Quit Caffeine… Finally
A while back I tried a huge detox which involved quitting coffee, but failed quite spectacularly when I started getting very bad headaches
2 weeks ago now I worked out I was drinking and taking around 700mg a day of caffeine, it was fairly obvious that I had become quote immune to its effects and it wasn’t helping me stay awake or lose weight like I thought it was
I also was suffering from some digestive problems (constantly feeling bloated, not hungry etc..)
So I decided to bite the bullet and quit caffeine completely. No coffee, no tea, no caffeine/green tea supplement tablets.. nothing.
For a week I was a complete mess, massive headaches that I could only just cope with by taking 10-15 ibuprofen a day. My concentration levels at work really suffered and I completely lost my sleep patterns were all over the place, with me nearly falling asleep around 6pm but then waking up and not being able to sleep again until 3 or 4am.. total mess
Anyway the headaches died down after a week, and I started trying pro-biotic drinks to see if it helped my digestion.
Pleased to report that I’ve lost half a stone in the last week and a half, and I no longer feel bloated all the time. I sleep like a log after 11pm at night and at 8am every morning I seem to wake up before my alarm has gone off.
I feel a lot lot happier, most of my depressed feelings has gone, and Im feeling a LOT more enthusiastic about my Job and working on my car, throwing myself into both with a lot of energy.
I’ve also picked up a cheap air-rowing machine on ebay which im jumping on every other night, and hope to get back into cycling at weekends (though photography is tempting lol)
So if anyone reading this is stuck in the 8-10 cups a day just to stay awake rut, I can officially tell you its a lot better to quit it all!!
