Why is it in the UK all home-delivery networks still try to deliver parcels from 8am – 6pm when 90% of us work during those hours

Helpfully the depot’s where you can collect from, also shut at 6pm

Would it be difficult for a delivery service that delivers from 7pm-10pm for home drop-offs, or at least to keep someone at the depot till 10pm so that people can collect

I’m waiting for a rather expensive parcel – they won’t accept a signed note on the door asking them to leave it – so it will end up back at the depot – which closes at 6pm and I work till 5.30pm – and its a 40min drive away! Rarrrrrrrr

Will probably end up going back to the shipper who will charge me £20 to post them out again
